FO GUANG SHAN HSI LAI TEMPLE SHORT-TERM MONASTIC RETREAT

PURPOSE

To uphold traditional Buddhist practices and discipline within the Sangha, while offering short-term opportunity for lay Buddhists to experience monastic life, cultivate inner growth, and deepen virtue.

【Adults】Sunday–Saturday, July 12-18, 2026

【Youths】Wednesday–Sunday, July 15-19, 2026

Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple

ELIGIBILITY

• Applicants should have a foundation in right Buddhist faith and understanding, a sincere interest in learning about monastic community life.
• Must be in good physical and mental conditions.
• 【Adult Group】 150 participants (male and female, ages 18–60).
• 【Youth Group】 40 participants (boys, ages 10–14).

FEES & REQUIREMENTS

Materials Fee

【Adults】US$ 120 /【Youth】US$ 120 (payable on registration day).

Accommodation

US$ 200 covers meals, lodging, and use of retreat robes provided by the temple.

What to Bring

【Adults】

Personal undergarments, white socks (for 7 days), and arhat shoes.

【Youths】

White socks (for 5 days) and white athletic shoes.
